Richard Johnson

Richard has always had a passion and enthusiasm for food and even as a young boy enjoyed cooking which led him to the Birmingham College of Food. Richard’s early working years included a spell with Gordon Ramsay at The Aubergine, surviving that with his passion to be a chef intact Richard then worked in some of London’s most notable restaurants including the Oxo Tower and Bibendum.

Leaving the hectic pace of London kitchens behind, Richard then travelled to New Zealand where he spent three years and learnt a lot from the fusion style of cooking that predominates over there.

Returning to the UK Richard has settled at Washbourne where he delivers great quality food that is based around the very best local, seasonal ingredients that the region provides, formal menus are balanced with informality and he delivers a fine quality signature burger much loved by locals and enjoyed in the comfort of The Bar.
